1989

Last week, Taylor Swift dropped her latest album, 1989. After listening to leaked songs, Out of the Woods and Welcome to New York, I knew that I really wanted to buy this album. I love buying physical CDs! I went and bought myself a deluxe edition of 1989 and it is all I've been listening to this past week, in fact, I am listening to it as I write this post!

1989 comes with three extra tracks, Wonderland, You Are in Love and New Romantics, three songwriting memos, and photos from Taylor.

This album is very Taylor Swift as well as being very different from her past albums. There is not a track on this album that I do not like. Claps to Taylor! Many of the songs on this album are very upbeat and feel-good. The songs I always seem to have stuck in my head are Blank Space and How You Get The Girl. The first single off the album, Shake It Off, still manages to get me in a a really happy, dancey mood even though I have heard it many times.

I think this album has a very electronic and tinny timbre if we generalise the instrumentals beneath Taylor's voice. It really steers away from her country style beginnings and shows how she is developing her music. The use of different instruments and textures throughout the album add interest and keep you wanting to hear more. No song is the same.

I really love how Taylor has included three of her songwriting memos on this record. It really brings the listener closer to the artist and we get an insight of how Taylor Swift writes her songs. These memos also highlight some aspects of Taylor's songs that I would not have otherwise noticed. They're also handy if you want some advice on writing your own music!

Buy 1989 if you don't mind Taylor Swift, it's definitely an album to have a good time to. If you hate Taylor Swift then don't buy it, you'll probably just find her more irritating than you already did. I rate this album a steady 4/5 stars.

Fast Food Award of the Year...

So it looks like it has been three weekends since my last blog post... Ahh how slack of me! I really need to get on top of this. I deeply apologise from the bottom of my heart. To get the ball rolling back into the blogging business, I have decided to award my fast food award of the year!!!

AND THE FAST FOOD OF THE YEAR AWARD GOES TO *cue drumroll* 8BIT WITH THEIR GOLDEN AXE BURGER AND CHILLI CHEESE FRIES!!!

8Bit is a small food joint in Footscray that follows a theme of video games. The creative theme is one thing, but it means nothing unless the food is also banging. If you dig American style burgers, chips and shakes, you definitely have to make your way to 8Bit! Both times that I have been to 8Bit, I have ordered a Golden Axe Burger and Chilli Cheese fries.

Two fried chicken fillets, slaw, cheese and Sriracha sauce between two of the best burger buns did you say? That is the Golden Axe and it is absolutely delicious! The chicken and slaw in this burger is incredibly crunchy, so you know it has been made fresh. The Sriracha sauce makes the burger exclusive; without it, the Golden Axe wouldn't be the Golden Axe. It adds a spice to the burger, differentiating it from all others.

The chilli cheese fries at 8Bit are some of the best I have ever had and that's saying something! You can count on 8Bit to slather their fries with saucy cheese and cover it with delectable chilli mince. The jalapeƱos on top are like peaks at the top of a mountain. While adding a freshness to the fries, they also give a lot of heat to get the taste buds going.

The Golden Axe and Chilli Cheese Fries from 8Bit deserve my "Fast Food of the Year" award and definitely give maccas a run for their money!

Good Morning Vietnam!

We've been in Vietnam for a week now, I can't actually believe it. So far we have stayed in Hanoi and Hue and we are currently in the wonderful town of Hoi An. It has been a really long and jam packed week. It feels like we have been in Vietnam for a really long time, but it has only been one week! We have visited so many breath taking places, including Ha Long Bay. It is really hard to believe that we have less than one week left in Vietnam before we head home back to reality. Here are some of my best photos so far from this trip!

Travel Fashion / / What's In My Bag?!

Today, I leave for my trip to Vietnam with some friends from school. It has been highly anticipated and I am so excited right now as I write this post!!! One of the things that my friends and I have discussed prior to leaving is the clothes we would pack for our trip! Vietnam is in a warm area of the world and it is hot there pretty much all of the time. Travelling should not be centred around fashion at all (unless you're in Paris or something) when you travel, you should be comfortable. I have only brought a few cotton tops and two pairs of shorts as well as a nice dress for just in case. We have an eight hour flight ahead of us, and I have definitely gone for a comfortable outfit. I have stuck to a classic black and white colour scheme, with black harem pants and a black cardigan and a basic white t-shirt and sandles.

Also for my flight, I also have my carry on luggage! Carry on luggage should only have the bare necessities for the flight. I have got my Vietnam guidebook, a journal and pens, headphones, my glasses case, paw paw cream, eyeliner, mascara and a toothbrush and tooth paste. Oh and popcorn and lollies coz I love food hahahaha!!

I am really excited to get to the airport ahhhhhh!! Emmanuelle out (: x

HI HI HI

Hiya world! My name is Emmanuelle and welcome to my blog, "What Now Emmanuelle?" I have started this blog as a teenager for other teenagers to read and saw it as an opportunity to do what I love... Writing!

Like most teenagers living in this day and age, I love music, food, fashion and photography and I have to go through the daily struggles of being a teenager. And this is what this blog is all about! I am going to keep you up to date in the magical world of music, food, fashion and photography from the fresh eyes of a teenager.

Of course, I do not want this blog to be 100% about me, I would love for all my readers to get involved! So you can leave comments or shoot me an email at whatnowemmanuelle@gmail.com
